This December, Appear Here has taken over four of Network Rail’s disused railway arches and partnered with TASTE Street Food to launch Union Yard - a foodie’s winter wonderland!
Tucked under the arches near Southwark Station you’ll find an assorted array of food traders in quirky, vintage vehicles. Running from December 15th to 23rd, the market has tapped into the local community by bringing in traders using locally and sustainably sourced cuisine.
Tom Montgomery-Swan, director of TASTE Street Food commented, “This area has never seen street food presented in this type of setting like this before…It’s a fantastic privilege to rejuvenate this Network Rail site and showcase the location as a hot spot for award winning, affordable artisan food.
Foodies are in for a treat. The Union Yard line up includes street market favourites Made of Dough with their wood fired pizza’s, The Cheese Truck’s grilled cheese concoctions and the chef Mark Hix’s gastronomic, “Fish Dog” stall. Alongside these, you’ll also find winter warming hotpots, gluten free treats, smoked meat and a lot of craft beer.
There are some nice touches which make the whole experience that bit more memorable - guests are given blankets to wrap up in, mulled wine and Bailey’s hot chocolate are on offer to ward off the cold and on Fridays and Saturdays live music is provided by the acclaimed Indian Electric Company, and Monty Swan.
The market is free entry for all visitors with meals ranging from a very affordable £2.00 - £6.00. Open everyday from 11am - 9pm until 21st December, make sure you pay a visit before it disappears!
