The Five at Five is a download of the best things to read, watch, shop, and get inspiration from.
This week’s selections have been curated by Guy Morgan, founder of Guy Morgan Apothecary. Guy created his skincare brand, which uses ethically sourced organic, vegan, and wild-grown ingredients, after becoming fed up with aggressively gendered products. Here are his picks of the week:
Read: I’m currently taking my time with my friend, Christopher Gee’s, photographic book, Wraecca. It’s a collection of photographs he's taken from travels around the UK. It’s available to buy directly through Christopher’s Instagram.
Watch: Not to be cliche, but I saw my boyfriend watching the latest season of The Crown, and even watching over his shoulder I was hooked! Gillian Anderson is captivating.
Listen: I’ve been revisiting a lot of iamamiwhoami’s discography, in particular their album, BLUE. It’s an audio visual experience, with mesmerising music videos on YouTube.
Shop: Keeping things local with Earl of East, which is just such a diverse mix of cool items ideal for gifting. The founders Paul & Niko have done a brilliant job of curating, and building a real sense of community. For my skincare (and some homeware) needs, Elysian Theory recently launched, which has some brilliant niche brands.
Inspiration: The last exhibition I was able to go to before a certain pandemic was the Charlotte Perriand retrospective at the Louis Vuitton foundation, Paris. I come from an interior design background and Perriand’s architecture and furniture design has always been a big source of inspiration to me. Her work often seems dwarfed by her male counterparts, such as Le Corbusier. So it was refreshing to see her get the recognition she so rightly deserves.
