The Battle of the Christmas Windows

18 Dec 2013

Before sitting down to fill ourselves with as much turkey and mulled wine as our hearts desire, many of us will have spent the Christmas season in a frantic rush to buy our loved ones the newest and most fashionable gifts on the high street. On this note, we thought it might be fun to draw a list of those shops that have provided us with some Christmas relief and turned their shop front into a winter’s tale:

Fenwick’s on New Bond Street have taken the original motif of The Nutcracker this Christmas, employing the English National Ballet’s Lead Principal Ballerina Elena Glurdjidze to perform her role as Clara the Nutcracker Doll in the shop window. A great PR stunt and just that little bit different.

Combining modern stained-glass prints, a florescent ‘winter wonderland’ makeover and mannequins decked out in the latest fashions, Harvey Nichols have merged religion, culture and fashion to create a truly unique Christmas display.

From Reindeer made from Dyson Hoovers, to towelled turkeys, to flying birds made from cutlery, John Lewis have truly outdone themselves this year. Not only is this a fantastic and novel idea, but the shop has also managed to incorporate 7,000 of their in store products in the creation of these animals, providing not only a great theme but also a lot of product exposure.

Harrods have never been one to disappoint when it comes to Christmas shop frontage so it should come as no surprise that yet again they have produced a stellar display. Taking 500 man hours to build, the store have created a British Steam Train cross section, The Harrods Express, harking back to a time gone by and featuring the most sought after and luxurious fashion and accessories. Certainly worth a visit if you haven’t already been.
